Design concept, website design and screen design

 

IPOC (Integrated Plate boundary Observatory Chile) is a European-South American network of institutions and scientists organizing and operating a distributed system of instruments and projects dedicated to the study of earthquakes and deformation at the continental margin of Chile.

 

Based on the theme of the site we have chosen natural earth tones as the subtle design element. Along with the active color orange (associates magma, symbol of the Earth's interior) we have reached a high-contrasted appearance of the site. The circular shapes in the head of the page are continuing themes of the logo, on the other hand, they play on the spread waves of an earthquake. The news and highlights of each page as well as the illustrations are highlighted in color. Large amounts of text can be structured better and loosen up. The site is open all around and most timelessly designed.
