Leucorea Foundation: Conference material Melanchthon-session
Invitation – Programme – Poster – Meeting Materials
April 2010 marked the 450th time of the death of Philipp Melanchthon (1497–1560). Melanchthon, born in Bretten and died in Wittenberg, from 1518 Professor of Greek at the University of Wittenberg, was the most important theological colleague of Martin Luther. On account of his frail stature Luther called him jokingly graeculus (small Greek). In his Wittenberg years Melanchthon wrote numerous papers on topics in philosophy, theology and education and earned already alive the honor of "praeceptor Germaniae" (teacher of Germany).
The conference material
The 450th death of Melanchthon is the reason for this conference – thus a "current anniversary". The subject is treated from the present perspective and represents a bridge, reflecting 450 years gaining knowledge.
The design has to bind together the components of the conference – historical person Melanchthon, classic research and modern appearance: Contemporary Portraits of Melanchthon show him in many facets, but always in contemporary, historical form.
Poster
The poster is the first visual indication of the conference in public. The information on the poster is reduced to the most basic facts.
Registration and invitation
Both products take up the graphical theme, but give more precise information on the conference. On the inside of the invitation card a historical view of Wittenberg around 1536 as seen from the Elbe was printed. The inner sides contrast with the white color of the outside.
